It is a ten minutes’ ride from the Napoleonvilla to the ski lift center of Katschberg. Here you find more than 70 kilometers of ski slopes on the two ski areas Aineck and Tschaneck, 16 modern lifts, several ski schools and the coziest chalets in the Alps. Short waiting times and perfectly groomed slopes guarantee for fun and variety.
Snow is guaranteed from 1640 to 2220 meters altitude. 100% of the slopes are equipped with modern and environmentally friendly snowmaking systems. Most of the slopes are moderate, but you find easy runs for beginners also. For kids there is a fun park with mini-jet and talking cartoon characters. Waterway „Bacherlebnisweg“ Pöllatal
This adventure hike, suitable for all ages begins at the first parking lot (barbecue place) in the Pöllatal. Along the way, 11 panels are set up that encourage observing, listening and exploring. For children there are exciting puzzles to solve. The length of the trail is 6 km and ends at the wooden spoon hut (Kochlöffelhütte). Back you can go by “Choo-Choo” train. Duration 2-3 hours. Website
Adventure Park Katschberg
(from 6 years) Carinthias largest outdoor adventure park has some very exciting features. The course is situated in the forest under the cool canopy of tall trees. Of course there are different levels to suit different age’s groups and experience. The highlight is the “Flying Fox”, a series of suspended ropes and slides which transport you from one obstacle to the next. An exhilarating experience to be enjoyed by all. 3 D Archery Park
(6 years) Bear, wild boar, wolf, or turkey - life-size dummies. 25 different goals. The archery park on the Katschberg is beautifully integrated into the environment. "Katschhausen" Kid’s adventure park
(from 3 years) The Katschling family lives in the little village of KATSCHHAUSEN, located on the edge of an idyllic wetland. It´s the perfect place to play all day long, to find the mysterious villain and to observe nature. We have tried to explain the making of natural colours in a very simple way, which will sometimes even surprise adults - just wait and see what is going to happen! Website
Hiking tours are professionally organized on the Kareck, the Lieser origin and to the Lanisch lakes, the Hafner and Gontalscharte. Brand new to the program are tours for GPS treasure hunting: Geocaching.
Geocaching is similar to a treasure hunting but uses modern GPS technology. The treasure is input into the device and it’s the aim of the participant to track it down using clues and solving puzzles enroute. Each participant is also equipped with a log book for marking out their findings and other interesting sights along the way. More
With over 200 km of approved cycle paths and routes there is so much to explore at Katschberg. Nestled in between the Hohe Tauern and Nockberge national parks the scenery is simply amazing. Together with the Lungau and Nockberg region there are approximately 600 km of cycle routes to explore and enjoy this being one of Austria’s approved mountain bike resorts. Here you can rent a mountain bike and explore many of the routes available. There are over 600km of routes available to explore between Katschberg and Rennweg.
For those who love horses and love horse back riding, the area is perfect. Experienced riders enjoy hiking rides through the fresh forest air, past blooming meadows and rushing mountain creeks. Beginners can start in the highest riding hall in Austria at 1,650 Meters or better go to the Aschbacher horse farm close to the Napoleonvilla and turn their first laps on the horse. Rennweg is located on the edge of the National Park Hohe Tauern. The region offers interesting hunting opportunities and regularly attractive game shots of deer, chamois, ibex, marmots, grouse and many more. For interested hunters here you geht counseling and support. Information on request.
Liesertal and the Pöllatal are popular meeting places for anglers and those who like to fish in cold waters. For fishing in Carinthia no test is required, and children are welcome, from April to November. More skills are required for fly-fishing. For people who get no trout out of the water, they can enjoy it best "blue" or fried in the restaurant.
